Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine, the Rosemary and Meredith Willson Harmony for Mayo Program is coordinated by Choral Arts Ensemble of Rochester. The series is generously funded by Rosemary Willson in memory of her late husband, Meredith Willson, who wrote the Broadway musical “The Music Man.” The gift is made in gratitude for the couple’s care at Mayo Clinic.
The George Maurer Trio will perform as part of this series in the Rochester Peace Plaza (provided in cooperation with the Rochester Downtown Alliance). In case of inclement weather the concert will be moved to Lips Atrium, Charlton building, subway level.
Led by George Maurer, the George Maurer Trio performs jazz, swing, blues, bebop and original tunes. The group includes George Maurer, piano; Muggsy Lauer, guitar and vocals; and Jeff Engholm, bass. Members of the group have performed at Carnegie Hall, Montreaux, the Fitzgerald, McKnight & the Dakota, for members of Congress and the White House, and alongside notables like Bob Hope to Debbie Duncan. Their most recent CD is called On Track: Live at the Dakota. The remaining summer schedule can be found at www.harmony.choralartsensemble.org.
